2012 International Activity Report – Executive Summary

In 2012, MSF brought independent medical relief to victims of war, disaster, epidemics and other crises in more than 65 countries around the world.

The 2012 report shows that MSF teams provided, among other things:

  • 8.3 million consultations;
  • 78,500 surgical interventions;
  • 276,300 severely malnourished children received treatment

In addition, MSF is constantly seeking ways to provide the highest quality medical care. In 2012, teams treated:

  • 1.6 million people for malaria
  • 310,500 people living with HIV/AIDS and antiretroviral therapy for more than 279,600
  • 57,400 people for cholera, a water-borne, acute gastrointestinal infection
  • 30,780 people for tuberculosis (TB), including 1,780 people for multi-drug-resistant forms
  • 3,430 people for meningitis, and vaccinated more than 496,000 people against this
