MSF cannot work safely inside Somalia without the support of the community, including the Somali diaspora. A key part of MSF’s work in Somalia involves communicating with these communities, explaining what kind of organisation MSF is, how it works, what it does and why, and providing updates and information about our activities. MSF is a transparent organisation and we believe that this open communication is essential to our operations.

In 2008/9 MSF started to expand these communications activities to the Somali diaspora, organising meetings with communities in Nairobi, London and Toronto. These meetings both in Somalia and abroad will continue throughout 2010.
